Influence of the suburbanization process on demographic development and capacities of education facilities in Pragueʼs hinterland
Benáčková, Kristýna ; Špačková, Petra (advisor) ; Ouředníček, Martin (referee)
The objective of the thesis is to study impacts of suburbanization on demographic development of the hinterland of Prague and on capacities of education facilities in selected municipalities. The paper assesses the approaches taken by representatives of these municipalities to set conditions for provision of school and preschool education to their citizens. The demand for civil amenities gradually increases as a result of population growth and specific age structure changes. Many suburban municipalities thus often face the same problem: low capacities of kindergartens and elementary schools caused by a growing population of children. Most research focused on the approaches of seven case study municipalities from the southeastern hinterland of Prague to the solution of the capacity issues. A policy of respective municipalities differs based on the fact whether or not it runs its own school. However, the lack of capacities of education facilities does not generally force the municipalities to regulate a further housing construction and the expansion of the community.
Demographic Development in the Suburban Zone of Prague
Kračunova, Dominika ; Šimková, Martina (advisor) ; Fiala, Tomáš (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the demographic development in the suburban zone of Prague, the territory most affected by the process of suburbanization. The aim of the thesis is to characterize the development of the demographic structure of monitored areas, to capture changes in the level of selected demographic indicators and to create a projection of the future development of the population. In the surveyed areas, the size of the population increased significantly during the period under review, mainly due to migration of specific age groups into the area. Immigration has led to a significant rejuvenation of the population and has brought about changes in the population structure that have had a decisive influence on the further development of the surveyed demographic indicators.

Suttrová, Ivana ; Špačková, Petra (advisor) ; Kašková, Magdalena (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to show how the process of suburbanization impacted on physical and social environments in the Prague hinterland during the first half of 20th century on the example of the Dobřichovice city located in Praha-západ district. This municipality was a favourite residential and recreation locality during the interwar period, especially for Prague inhabitants. First, the thesis deals the development of intensity and character of new building construction in the municipality during the interwar period. Second, there is an analysis of demographic and socio-economic structures of suburban population and comparison with other inhabitants based on the effort of identification of suburbanites in the individual Census data. Consequently, the thesis evaluates the effect of suburbanization on the change of population structure in Dobřichovice. The analysis confirmed the effect of suburbanization on expansion of built-up areas and changes in population structure and cultural and economic climates in municipality. Influence of the suburbanization process on demographic development and availability of primary education in Prague's hinterland
Benáčková, Kristýna ; Špačková, Petra (advisor) ; Novotná, Marie (referee)
The objective of the thesis is to evaluate the current situation of capacities of primary schools compared with the number and the distribution of pupils in compulsory education age in Prague suburban municipalities. In the analysis the area of Pragueʼs hinterland (districts Praha-východ and Praha-západ) was examined. The paper assesses the impacts of suburbanization on demographic development and on primary education in this region. Insufficient capacities of primary schools are significant problem in last few years in this area. In connection with uneven development of the region the problem does not affect all municipalities with equal intensity. Serious problems were identified in the particular area of the northern, southern and south-eastern hinterland of Prague. The strategy of the municipalities to ensure the sufficient capacities of primary schools depends on whether the municipality establishes its primary school or not and it is also connected with the availability of basic education for residents of the municipality. Spatial development of soil sealing in Prague suburban fringe from 19th century till present.
Stachura, Jan ; Šefrna, Luděk (advisor) ; Chuman, Tomáš (referee)
Built up areas are dynymically evolving component of suburban landscape. Prague periphery is the area, where this evolution is fastest. This can be a problem because the very fertile soils are located in Prague fringe. Their loss is therefore connected with the law protection of agricultural soils. A set of 22 cadasters around the Prague made the area of interest of this master thesis. They were defined to cover the variability of geological substrate, climate, relief and soils and also some socioeconomic parametres (distance form highway and from Prague centre). I used a several data about built up areas to explain the trends in set: Stable cadaster, Third military mapping, aerial photos from 1950s and present orthophoto. The development of built up areas in the final set was assesed by a several parametres which contain the total area, structure, fertility of sealed land and diversity of soils. Problem of determining soil diversity was one of the goals of master thesis. Taxonomical dendrogram of soils with including taxonomical differences is the output of this part. Main trend of development were assesed by using multidimensional statistic method: classical scaling and hierarchical clustering. Results confirmed that more fertile soil are built up nowadays than in the past and also diversity of...
Transformation of Recreational Facilities in Prague
Tesař, Jakub ; Fialová, Dana (advisor) ; Havrlant, Jan (referee)
The present thesis studies the transformation of recreational facilities of Prague. It is focused on a model area of villages, Ohrobec and Dolní Břežany, which have been long - term observed by the departement of social geography and regional development of Charles University in Prague. Although this area is a significant recreational zone, since 1990's it passes through a considerable number of changes. In this area the transformation of second home and suburbal activity occurs and changes the present landscape character. In an observed locality it has occured the tranformation of the structure of area users. The aim of the thesis is to find out how these people use this area, how do they identify themselves with the place where they live or relax and, what kind of mutual relationships they have. Due to the character of my topic, I have chosen several methods from qualitative research, the main source of information is questionnaire survey between the inhabitants and vacationers.
